Talk:Removing unwanted content on webpages

Nitpick: You included this article in the Request for comments category but you didn't add the {{Request_for_comments}} template to the top of the article. My comments about the article:

  • You start the article by saying, Many webpages contain stuff you'd rather not see. Ads or other clutter. With Firefox extensions however, you're in control. "Ads or other clutter." is not a sentence, so I would join it to the first sentence with ",such as" or similar.... and why not replace "stuff" with "content", while you are at it? (Polish it up a bit.)
  • The article should also be expanded to give a little more information about each of the recommended extensions and the target audience (why, for example, would someone want to use Aardvark?).
  • The linked Dom Inspector page covers Mozilla Suite, not Firefox. We already have a DOM Inspector article that includes information for Firefox so why don't you link there, if you really think it's needed in this article?
  • The before and after example should explain which extension(s) resulted in the "after" screenshot, which goes to an image file at userstyles.org. I would upload images to the kb instead of linking to another website.

Hey Alice! All very good and valid points. I don't have the time and zest right now to polish this. Anybody's quite welcome to, of course. I guess I just wanted to created a quick listing of these extensions and make more people aware of them. Not doing too great at the moment though with only some 600 page loads... I think the 'Web 3.0' these extensions offer is quite an experience. FatJohn 09:06, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Hi FJ, Since you don't have the time or zest right now, I did some minor edits: I polished the intro, replaced the DOM Inspector link and categories and I added a "See also" section with links to Popups not blocked and Blocking sites. Alice 12:12, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
I still think you need to expand the article to include a little more information about each of the recommended extensions, so I added the {{stub}} template .... but go ahead and remove it if you think the article is OK the way it is. Alice 14:18, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
