Browser.bookmarks.sort.direction
Contents
Background
Bookmarks in Mozilla can appear in multiple locations (e.g., the Bookmarks menu and the Bookmarks Sidebar). To keep display order consistent among all of them, this preference keeps track of how the user has sorted their bookmarks.
Possible values and their effects
natural
Sort bookmarks alphabetically from A to Z.
ascending
Sort bookmarks in reverse alphabetical order from Z to A.
(Other)
Leave bookmarks unsorted. (The default value for this preference, descending, does this.)
UI
Mozilla Firefox 1.0–1.5
The menu items “Unsorted”, “Ascending”, and “Descending” under “Bookmarks → Manage Bookmarks... → View” set this preference to descending, natural, and ascending, respectively.
Mozilla Firefox 2.0
The menu items “Unsorted”, “Ascending”, and “Descending” under “Bookmarks → Organize Bookmarks... → View” set this preference to descending, natural, and ascending, respectively.
