This article applies to Firefox and Mozilla Suite.

This article describes how to remove search plugins from the Search Bar.

Manual removal

With Mozilla Suite or Firefox closed, open the searchplugins folder in the following location.

Warning. Removing any of the default searchplugins in Firefox 1.5 may result in failure of the Firefox 1.5.0.1 partial update ((Bug 325561) as reported here. It is recommended that you only remove custom searchplugins in Firefox 1.5 until the issue is resolved.

Delete both .src and .gif or .png for the plugins you want to delete. For example, to the default Google search plugin, you would delete "google.src" and "google.gif". Restart the application and deleted plugins will be gone.
