Getting & Sending Mail
- Cannot send mail; problems with outgoing server.
- Error message when getting mail: "This folder is being processed".
- Duplicate messages are received when downloading mail.
- I receive an alert saying I have new messages, but no new messages appear in my Inbox.
- When I forward messages, Thunderbird tries to forward the message in some weird sort of attachment that no one can read. It doesn't copy the message into the new message.
- College students or others who use webmail interfaces tend to have this problem, as well as users of command-line clients like PINE and Mutt. The fix: [Thunderbird : FAQs : Using Plain Text | Use plain text] and disable HTML and MIME.
Message Display
- No date is shown for messages sent/received.
- Cannot view images in messages.
- Incoming messages have a dot (period) at the end which was not typed by the sender.
Importing & Migrating
- Thunderbird shows empty folders after migrating my profile.
- Mail imported from Eudora is littered with html tags in the message body.
Miscellaneous
- Mail disappears from Thunderbird.
- When I create a new account, the account does not appear in the folders pane, and the mail for that account goes into Local Folders.
- When I try to launch Thunderbird, it says my profile is already in use.
- Thunderbird forgets my passwords.
- Some of my mail files are huge, even though they contain few or no messages.
- Messages reappear after I've moved or deleted them.
- Cannot delete IMAP folders.
- When using the global Inbox, message filters do not run automatically on incoming mail. They can only be run manually.
- Junk mail isn't moved to the Junk folder.
- Antivirus software problems.
- Some messages have strange characters in their body text when displayed.
