Talk:Synchronizing multiple machines

This seems rather redundant with Synchronizing mail on two computers (Thunderbird). Why not merge them into a single article? --wintogreen 05:34, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

I have no problem with the two articles being merged. I'm not quite sure how we got into this situation since I don't remember seeing the other one at the time though there are obvious similarities. It doesn't matter. I had used "multiple machines" in the title because of several threads where somebody was trying to synch more than two PCs plus a PDA. Its also not clear to me why the merged article has to be explicitly Thunderbird only since most (possibly all) of the methods should also work for Mozilla Suite/SeaMonkey. I suspect even SynchingThunder works with Mozilla Suite/SeaMonkey since its a standalone program that doesn't appear to be Thunderbird aware, it just wants you to browse a profile and click on the mbox files. I suggest we live with the current name but you add (to the existing merged article) the tag you created that states a article was written for Thunderbird but might also apply to Mozilla Suite/Seamonkey.

Everything in Ed Mullen's article seems to be in the knowledge base article. I suggest we drop that external link. Tanstaafl 12:06, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

SynchingThunder might well work with the Suite, but I see no indication that Sync Kolab does, and as far as I know the -profile "path" command argument works with neither Mozilla Suite nor SeaMonkey (it just brings up the profile manager instead of launching with the specified profile). Flagging this as a Suite/SeaMonkey article would also require flagging those parts that are TB-specific, which just makes the article messier. Under the circumstances I think it'd be better to have a separate Suite/SM article. --wintogreen 16:13, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
