I am trying to migrate messages from Outlook Express on Windows 98 to Thunderbird on Linux.

I'd love any advice anyone could offer.

Me too. I have all my OE mailbox files saved, and want to import them into my Ubuntu TB local folders. HowTo? --Patient X 04:01, 8 November 2005 (PST)
Sorry, I type before I google. The trick is probably; install TB in your old windows environment, import your OE folders and settings, export your TB-data, and import them in Linux. See http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Datenmigration/Thunderbird for a german explanation with Ubuntu. --Patient X 04:08, 8 November 2005 (PST)
Yep, that worked. Only beware that Thunderburd has difficulty with ë, ö and the like, so you'd better rename mailfolers with these kind of characters to straight ASCII. --Patient X 06:14, 8 November 2005 (PST)

1) I had problems importing address groups. Although all addresses come in fine and even the groups are created, all the groups are empty. Is this a bug or what did I do wrong?

2) I'd like to import the filter rules. Is that supported by TB? If not, is there any workaround to import the rules?

Can you give me a hint? --Bernie32 12:20, 14 November 2005 (PST)
