This article addresses obtaining various Counts from Firefox concerning Firefox features (bookmarks, history) and counts of such things (links) within active page, along with some calculation features. Specifically not covered would be SEO (Search Engine Optimization) things such as page rank determinations.

Smart Bookmarks / under Bookmarks

Do not provide counters so will get removed once rest of page fills in, but the information such as visited count that it uses should be available elsewhere

Don't even know if belong on this page, haven't tried, pictures displayed for extension are poor.

  • Link Evaluator :: Firefox Add-ons, help users evaluate the availability of online resources linked to from a given Web page. When started, it automatically follows all links on the current page, and assesses the responses of each URL (link). (44KB)

Page Rank and SEO, Timers

These items will NOT remain on this page. Will not include SEO, application specific such as Gmail, Digg

  • Site Information Tool :: Firefox Add-ons, Provides information about a webpage (or website) including rankings, domain registration data (whois), IP information, server response and page data, thumbnail and more.
  • Timers will not be included because within Firefox they are not system wide and if Firefox goes down so does your timer. Won't include count-down timers of any kind.

Guidelines -- The above examples will not be included on the main page, specific guidelines DMcRitchie 02:58, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

  • No SEO unless limited to extracting counts on page without referencing external databases/sites
  • No Smart bookmarks unless they actually obtain a count
  • No Timers of any kind, no countdown timers of any kind
  • No counts for specific applications such as Gmail or Digg as you would check those sources

Article cleanup

See In-house style. Some specifics:

  • No text coloring.
  • Avoid unneeded HTML
  • Put quotation marks around keyboard shortcuts (e.g., "Ctrl+PageDown")
  • Do not capitalize The First Letter of Each Main Word in section headings ("Bookmarks and Links" should be "Bookmarks and links").
  • Instead of adding information such as "modified by D.McRitchie from keywords:count example by dickvl" simply include a reference link to the forum thread or webpage where you found the information. Adding comments like that makes the article hard to follow. Alice 01:07, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

  • Think the objectionable parts are removed, didn't believe I could make it work without the color, but it is gone, with a link. DMcRitchie 18:39, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks also. I'll leave it up to you to remove the cleanup template from the top of the article when you've done. If you can stand more 'criticism', some things I would remove from the article are off--hand comments like this in the intro:
Currently this is just a framework as there is lot of information needed to fill in items without links. (For items specifically not covered see Talk:Counts page.)
and this, under the "bookmarks folder" section:
Don't have complete answers for several count items.
....To me, comments like that makes the article seem like it's a draft. I think once you categorize the article it should look like a finished product, even though it may still be a "work in progress" because you will be adding to it later. Alice 21:00, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
  • I would assume that you mean http and https instead of: "html://" and "htmls//"
--Dickvl 03:02, 28 June 2009 (UTC), yes Thanks and fixed DMcRitchie 01:47, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
  • I renamed the "Page Info" section to "Page size" since that's what it's about. I included a link to the Web Developer Firefox add-on, which I found by searching on "Web Developer Information View Document Size" since I don't have it installed. I also added arrows and quotes for menu paths. Alice 10:39, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Article title and categories

  • Try to think of a more descriptive title. What about "Counting bookmarks links and other data - Firefox"? Or "Counting browser data - Firefox"? You can rename articles using the "Move" link. Alice 01:07, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
Good suggestion, am thinking now of "Counting bookmarks, history, links and other data - Firefox" DMcRitchie 18:39, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
I like that one too but you should avoid commas or other punctuation in article titles (except for a few exceptions given in Article naming conventions) so make it "Counting bookmarks history links and other data - Firefox". Go ahead and use the Move link, then, or let me know and I'll move it. Alice 21:15, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
Double redirects removal, wow, saw that before I saw what I'd done, glad you fixed the cause and the effect, I certainly meant to remove those commas. Glad the new name without the commas is good, it the only way I'd find the article "Counts - Counting bookmarks history links and other data - Firefox". DMcRitchie 00:14, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
  • This is a hard article to categorize. It fits in Bookmarks but there is no History category right now (you can create one and then include the new category under the Firefox category. See Rules/Categories. Otherwise, maybe Category:Websites? Alice 01:07, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

I'm removing the article from the Firefox category since you can't have it under both the parent ("Firefox") and child ("Bookmarks") categories. Alice 02:37, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

I see you added a new History category, for this article and others related to browsing history. I made some changes to the description to include Mozilla Suite/SeaMonkey and added some more articles to the new category. I also added the History category to the Firefox and Mozilla Suite categories, since those are the "parents" of the History category (just like those are the "parent" categories for the Bookmarks category).
