Password not remembered - Thunderbird

1. If a server is down, Thunderbird will forget your password and will keep asking you to re-enter it till it connects to the server or until you Cancel, whichever comes first.

2. It has happened, that thunderbird will show now checkbox for remembering passwords.

Can anyone provide help, and explain, how to make appear the checkbox which will save the passwords in the password manager?
