Mozilla is a standards compliant browser. That means that it tightly follows the standards from [http://www.w3.org W3]. Mozilla does not support scripts or code introduced by Microsoft. One example, widely used, is '''bgsound''' - to play soundfiles on a homepage. Bgsound is not in the standard (HTML 4.01) and therefore not supported by Mozilla.

This means that as long as the code being used on a hompage sticks with standards - Mozilla will work just fine. However, many homepages do not, which is (in most cases) the simple explanation why you sometimes will not be able to use functions (log in, dropdown menus, watch videos and/or play music).

You can sometimes change the useragent to trick the homepage into thinking that you are using another browser other than Mozilla. In order to do that you need an [http://extensionrook.mozdev.org extension]. This is just a workaround and you should write a polite letter to the admin/webmaster informing him/her that you are using a standards compliant browser and that your are having problems with the site. If changing the useragent works, the browser detection script that the site is using is most likely outdated.

The [http://validator.w3.org/ W3 Validator] is a great tool to check your own homepage (or a site that you suspect is not standards compliant).
