Mozilla currently has no builtin facility for blocking these media types.

See this open bug for further details: 

* Bug 94035 - Allow blocking of any media type (flash, plug-in, applet, etc.)

In the meantime, until implementation, there are two different extensions available that do fill this role to a limited degree: 

* Preferences Toolbar.

* FlashBlock.
