is it possible to use Thunderbird with Google Mail?  has anyone done it?  Outlook Express struggles with Gmail (Google Mail) because it doesn't use folders.  Can Thunderbird cope with this?  thanks...

As an alternative, I set my Google mail to forward to another account that I already had in my Outlook accounts.  When I imported to Thunderbird, that came along with it.
 
 
 
 
 
 
Yes.... Set the security to TLS. Details for the settings are available in GMail help.
