- Q: Are Mozilla products free?
- A: Yes! All products released by the Mozilla Foundation (i.e. Mozilla Suite, Firefox, Thunderbird, Camino and Bugzilla) are free and open source.
- Q: What happened with Phoenix and Mozilla Firebird?
- A: They are now known as Firefox. Originally called Phoenix, the light weight browser brother of the Mozilla suite had to change its name and after many suggestions the Firebird name was chosen. There existed, however, an open source database called Firebird, and to avoid confusion, the Mozilla Firebird name was dropped and the browser was renamed Firefox.
- Q: What about Minotaur and Chimera?
- A: They're now known as Thunderbird and Camino, respectively. This is because of similar name/branding issues as above.
- Q: What's the difference between the Mozilla Application Suite and Firefox/Thunderbird, etc.?
- A: See the summary of this issue.
- Q: What is Seamonkey?
- A: A code name for the Mozilla Suite.
- Q: What is Gecko?
- A: Gecko is Mozilla's revolutionary browser engine designed to support open Internet and Web Standards. More.
