Internet Explorer is the leading competitor to Mozilla's browser applications. However, for multiple reasons Mozilla Firefox and other browsers have recently gained significant popularity. Reasons for this may include the publicity generated by security flaws in Internet Explorer. Also, some appreciate what they seen as the greater simplicity and efficiency of Firefox. However, some continue to support Internet Explorer because certain sites, especially those dependent on Microsoft's ActiveX technology, reject all browsers except Internet Explorer. Some of these sites can be visited anyway using Firefox by engaging in user agent forging, using a plug-in such as user agent switcher.
