Firefox, Thunderbird, and Camino all started out with different names, as shown below. See Summary of Mozilla products for an overview of each product.

Phoenix and Firebird

They are now known as Firefox. Originally called Phoenix, the browser had to change its name due to trademark issues and after many suggestions the Firebird name was chosen. There existed, however, an open-source database called Firebird, and to avoid confusion, the Firebird name was dropped and the browser was renamed Firefox.

Minotaur

The predecessor of Thunderbird. This is because of similar name/branding issues as above.

Chimera

The former name of Camino, for similar reasons.
