Here are some tips for anything you could want to do with Firefox. Some tips just propose and explain a feature of Firefox, some show how to change the code to do something, and some explain how to customize. If you don't find how to do what you want here, look for an extension that does it.
Profile
- Backup your profile.
- When something's amiss, create a new profile.
- Create a profile without the random xxxxxxxx.slt.
Display
- Install nicer-looking fonts on Linux.
- Disable animated GIFs and images.

Customizations
