This article was written for Thunderbird but also applies to Mozilla Suite / SeaMonkey (though some menu sequences may differ).


Both the EditHTML and the Edit HTML Source extensions let you edit the source of an HTML message that you are composing.

Another way to do that is:

  1. Highlight the contents of the existing message ("Ctrl+A" or "Edit -> Select All").
  2. Select "Insert -> HTML".
  3. Edit the code as desired.
  4. Press "Insert".

If Thunderbird's built-in support for HTML editing doesn't meet your needs you could install the External editor extension and use an external editor.
