To delete individual entries, Click on the text area, press down to activate autocomplete, highlight the entry you want deleted, and press Delete (Shift + Delete in Firefox 1.5).

You can delete your entire autocomplete lists as follows.
# Click on the text field
* For the Location Bar: (Firefox) Tools -> Clear Private Data -> Uncheck everything except Saved Form and Search History -> Clear Private Data Now
# Press down to activate autocomplete
* For the Search Bar: (Firefox) Right-click on the search bar -> Clear Search History.
# Highlight the entry you want deleted by using the arrow keys or hovering over it with your mouse
* For form information: (Firefox) Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> Saved Form Information -> Clear.
# Delete (In Firefox 1.5, Shift + Delete).
Note that Location Bar autocomplete is an integral part of the History mechanism in Firefox: its data is stored in the [[profile folder#Files | history.dat]] file, and persists for the same duration as History items. Currently the only way to delete your Location Bar autocomplete list is to clear your History.

The Location Bar, Search Bar and some form fields on web pages have autocomplete dropdowns that appear with a list of previously-entered data. To delete individual entries:

  1. Click on the text field
  2. Press down to activate autocomplete
  3. Highlight the entry you want deleted by using the arrow keys or hovering over it with your mouse
  4. Delete (In Firefox 1.5, Shift + Delete).

You can delete your entire autocomplete lists by using Tools -> Clear Private Data.

  • Checking "Browsing History" will clear the Location Bar autocomplete (as well as your history)
  • Checking "Saved Form and Search History" will clear web pages' autocomplete and the Search Bar's autocomplete
