Symptoms
In Windows, Thunderbird is not responding. It may also be using 100% of the processing power.
Solution
In some cases, this can be caused by one of the index files for the mail files being corrupted.
- Exit Thunderbird.
- Find your profile folder.
- Open the folder containing your stored messages. For instance, if you are using the Global Inbox, this would be the "Local Folders" folder inside the "Mail" folder.
- Select all .msf files—these are the index files—and delete them.
- Restart Thunderbird.
- Wait for Thunderbird to recreate the indexes.
