Procedure

  1. In Firefox's Location Bar type "about:config" and hit Return,
  2. Type "anim" in the Filter field (to show only animation config image.animation_mode
  3. Double-click the "once" or "none" or "normal" at end of line, and edit it to one of the following:
none -- will prevent image animation
once -- will let the image animate once
normal -- will allow it to play over and over - ick!
Hit Return

Done!
