This article describes how to fix the problem of addresses (URLs) that are typed into Internet Explorer's Address Bar making Firefox open. This problem can sometimes be caused by having IE6 and IE7 Beta installed side by side.[1][2] To fix it, you need to set delete the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\ {c90250f3-4d7d-4991-9b69-a5c5bc1c2ae6} registry key:

  1. Click on the Windows Start button, then click "Run...". If you don't have this option, press the Windows key and R simultaneously. A dialog will appear.
  2. Type "regedit" into the text field
  3. Click OK
  4. Navigate the tree until you find get to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\ {c90250f3-4d7d-4991-9b69-a5c5bc1c2ae6}
  5. Right click on the entry
  6. Press Delete
