Hi,

Do you know anything about the Extension and Themes update managers in 1.5? The article Updating extensions currently just points to the Software Update article, which says that the Software Update mechanism does not apply to extensions. This means that the info in the Updating extensions article needs to be corrected! I don't know much about the new system, so any help would be welcome. Best wishes, --Mozcerize 08:19, 29 November 2005 (PST)

I could take a look at that page in the next couple of days, or you go ahead based on these comments. The main changes are:

  • In the appropriate manager, an "Update Now" button will appear next to any addons that have updates
  • There is no longer an icon that appears next to the throbber to prompt to install addon updates (this is going to be a problem, you can open the extension/theme manager and find alot of addons can be updated)
  • that whole section on updating incompatible extensions can be shortened to a warning and a link to Nightly Tester Tools and/or Mr Tech's Local Install

Software Update: your answer

That's exactly what I looked for. Sorry I didn't find it myself. Thank you very much! Cato minor 13:50, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for starting extensions.checkCompatibility. I'm glad there's someone else working on it. The only thing you need to change from what I see is that usually we point to the LXR diff for who checked something in, not the bug.--Np 17:46, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

I wasn't sure about that. Do you go for the trunk checkin ? Or the branch one since that will be in the wild first ? Also, I didn't link from the about:config entries page. CrazyFred 17:50, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
