I've restored the text explaining how to bypass the extension. Hiding the details does not improve security and just misleads users. My experience is that many people were either mislead by statements such as "not a high level of security" (which implied that it provided at least average security), or knew about the possibility of somebody accessing thier messages on the hard disk using another application and either didn't care (its good enough), or were looking for a more secure alternative.
