Talk:Increasing startup speed

This article needs some updates (SeaMonkey not mentioned in addition to Mozilla Suite, referring to Windows XP/Vista rather than old versions). I'm not using QL myself, thus I'm not touching this article. Also, a reference to bug 342002 should be included on a Windows Registry entry not removed when disabling Quick Launch in SeaMonkey, restarting it on reboot. --Rsx11m 15:42, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Vacuuming

This article talks about using the sqlite vacuum command to defragment the database to decrease startup time. This forum thread has a script to do that under Ubuntu. I haven't tried this since I don't enable history but I've found several Mozillazine forum threads [1] [2] that claim its useful.

http://www.sqlite.org/lang_vacuum.html mentions that SQLite version 3.1 (Firefox 3.0 uses SQLite version 3.5.4) added support for a auto-vacuum mode that can be used instead but it has several drawbacks. Its also not clear that when the history gets too old that that causes a large enough delete for this mode to do anything useful. Tanstaafl 14:49, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
