Talk:Creating accounts in Thunderbird for popular email providers

From MozillaZine Knowledge Base

Adding a section on MSN Premium as there seems to be no mention of it on the kb and there are a handful of threads with people asking how to set up their MSN account provided by Qwest. Also, adding it because it requires flipping a pref in TB 1.5+ as per http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=460088 and bug 312344. --Majken 04:52, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

A paragraph was added earlier today stating that some email providers say you should use SSL, but actually require TLS. Can anybody provide some examples of that ? If its rare I think we'd be better off dropping that paragraph and whenever we identify a email provider whose instructions are wrong, tell the reader whats wrong. I've added this after running into a couple of cases from various providers [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] ..., mainly on the SMTP side. Thus, I figured this was general enough. Apparently, some e-mail clients use "SSL" as term for both protocols, therefore may be the possible cause of this confusion. --Rsx11m 14:26, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
