On top of ActiveX, launch.com employs a Browser Detection Script, so it can know which browser you are using. If you are using anything but Internet Explorer or certain versions of Netscape, it will not let you see the videos.

The simple solution is to use the pklaunch Greasemonkey Script to play launch.com video - when you click on the link to the video, it will open the video in an external media player. It even skips the ad. pklaunch script: http://www.pooyak.com/p/pklaunch/ It requires the Greasemonkey extension. Sometimes Yahoo update their Launch.com pages and doing so can break the script, so make sure you always have the latest version. Check the script homepage for usage instructions and for updates in case Launch.com change their page formats again.

The link below is no longer necessary - it is to a guide that details a work-around that was used before this script was created. I leave it in for posterity. :) You do not need to follow it if you use the pklaunch script, but it still works is you would prefer not to use Greasemonkey and the pklaunch script. <a href="viewtopic.php?t=206217">Accessing Launch.com Embedded Video</a> by <a href="profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=20845">Vectorspace</a>

The play-launch extension previously mentioned here offered similar functionality to the script, but it is no longer being maintained by the author.

Launch.com radio (LAUNCHcast) uses too much IE-only javascript, and by all indications will not function in Firefox. At least, no-one yet has been able to get it to work.

Works now?

Yahoo! Music support for FireFox users. It didn't give the same error message, but I get stuck on the "MEDIA PLAYER CONFIGURATION" page.--Np 17:03, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

How can I watch videos using Firefox 1.5? (Yahoo! help page) tells you to install the Mozilla ActiveX plug-in and provides a "click here" link to mozactivex-ff-15.xpi. It worked for me using Fx 1.5.0.4 where I already had the plugin installed. Alice Wyman 11:56, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
