• The caveats seems to be outdated:

Did you verify that the user_pref() value is actually used? It is my understanding that it is simply ignored and therefore you have to set the original pref() value in channel-prefs.js, but that may have changed. --Rsx11m 23:23, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

I don't think we should redirect this "Category:Preferences" article to Software Update#Update_channels_-_Advanced if that's what you meant. (See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Category_talk:Preferences for background about preferences articles in general.) Also, 1) Software Update#Update_channels_-_Advanced includes an app.update.channel link to this article and 2) I could be wrong but, afaik we can't redirect an article to a specific section of another article (it will just go to the top of the article). I think we should simply add a "See also" link to Software Update#Update_channels_-_Advanced to the end of this article. --Alice 12:04, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
