Lotus Notes email support
- This article was written for Thunderbird but also applies to Mozilla Suite / SeaMonkey (though some menu sequences may differ).
Thunderbird uses POP or IMAP servers to fetch email, and a SMTP server to send email. Early versions of Lotus Notes didn't provide that functionality. Instead you had to buy/install yet another product, a Domino mail server that works with Notes accounts. Lotus Notes and Domino Release 5.0 added built-in support for POP/IMAP/SMTP. It was released in 1999. Later versions of the product now seem to be called Notes/Domino.
If you're using a Domino mail server but the admin disables POP, IMAP and SMTP support you could try using a webmail addon. However, most webmail add-ons only support major webmail systems such as yahoo and hotmail. Your best chance would be with FreePOPs. Thier forums mention that somebody is working on adding support for Lotus Notes.
