Background

Firefox 3’s Add-ons dialog integrates with addons.mozilla.org to allow users to search and install extensions and themes. The functionality is available in the “Get Add-ons” pane. This preference allows the user to override the contract ID used to create the search respository component.

Possible values and their effects

A string describing a valid contract ID. If no preference is specified, @mozilla.org/extensions/amo-repository;1 is used by default.

Recommended settings

Unless you are debugging the integrated “Get Add-ons” pane, there is no reason to set this preference. Setting it to the contract ID of an invalid or incompatible component will likely cause crashes or other undesired behavior.
